#walking practice#dolki min#aroaessidhe 2024 reads#Ohh this was really good! funny and gross and visceral.#interesting exploration of queer/trans existence and loneliness through an alien perspective#and the ridiculousness of human gender roles and being othered by society#It made me laugh a lot. the rambling kind of narration goes from funny to sad to existential and back#talking directly to the reader.#I love how they talk about objects like they’re sentient. and also getting hairballs from eating people.#The formatting vs audiobook narration choices are interesting - I read both together on recommendation.#The narration is very expressive and the print book has illustrations and sections of just random symbols#(me; queuing at the warehouse listening to a weird mangle of sounds for a full minute wondering if the audiobook file is corrupted.#no; it's meant to be like that) The translator’s note at the end is interesting too.

I couldn't help thinking that after meeting a certain Warehouse agent...
...maybe HG considered making a revision to the book. When it was published, she catered to the tastes at the time, but things have progressed since then.

i rly miss having to do research for something i was writing. like, deep dive, i need to read 2 academic articles on this subject at LEAST before i address it in this chapter. it rly made it feel more fun and productive for me but i don't rly get a chance to do that much these days :/
#i once read this book on the history of the warehouse from an economic history lens#and it was so cool and then i used it for this drabble#and now i still remember a lot abt tariffs#i had this book on gravity i wanted to read before writing gojo pov#oh also the sasuke sword fic i wrote. did a lot of research on that too i pulled like 5 references#it's just the kinda writer i am it's not as fun for me otherwise
